Dear Palo Alto Orthodontics Family.
We hope you are all doing well and miss all of you! I wanted to give you a brief update. As your orthodontist and the local dental society President (Mid-Peninsula Dental Society), I have been following all the current guidelines very closely (including California Department of Public Health, Santa Clara County Department of Public Health, CDC, OSHA).
California Department of Public Health has recently lifted the restrictions on dental treatment to include regular maintenance and preventative care. However, Santa Clara County Department of Public Health has NOT lifted its restrictions, therefore still mandating only emergency care at this time. As I am in contact with Santa Clara County’s Department of Public Health, I hope to see these restrictions lifted very soon.
In the meantime, I would like to assure you that we have been using this time to ensure proper protocols are implemented to ensure the utmost safety during orthodontic care to you and our team. We will continue to monitor the changes and make updates to our protocols as needed. We will be contacting you with updates as soon as restrictions are lifted and our final protocols are in place.
We are looking forward to seeing you all hopefully soon!!
Some Basic Instructions until your next appointment:
Please be sure to maintain excellent brushing and oral hygiene. This will reduce the number of emergencies due to swelling, bleeding and pain. Please have an adult double check at least once a day to ensure everything is clean. Also, please continue to clean your braces, Invisalign trays, and retainers with the utmost care.
Retainers – please continue to wear your retainer at night minimum. We may have instructed you to wear your retainers during the day for 3-6 months and then switch to night time only wear. Please continue to follow these instructions.
If you have lost or broken your retainer, please contact us via email so we can determine the best course of action.
Invisalign – Please continue your trays as instructed. If you are near the end of your trays(3-4 trays until the end), please switch to night time wear (8-12 hours) and wear them as long as you can before switching.
Braces – please make sure you have wax on hand to put on any uncomfortable areas.
Rubber Bands – Please continue your elastics as instructed. If you run out of elastics, please let us know and we will notify you when you can come by to pick up more. If you are unsure whether or not to continue elastics, please email us and we will return your email as soon as possible.
If you are experiencing an emergency, please text Dr Yoo on her cell at 650-485-1252.
We are so grateful to have such an amazing family of patients and team members and we wish to support you in any way possible during this time. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help while you help us ‘flatten the curve’! We will get through this! We wish you health and strength!
Warmly,
Jenny Yoo-Park and the PAO Team
