Meet Invisalign, The Top Orthodontic Treatment

Invisalign is rapidly becoming the most desired orthodontic treatment near Stanford, CA. Invisalign’s clear, virtually invisible aligners and ability to remove the trays make it much more popular than traditional metal braces which are seen as unattractive by many patients. Luckily, for those prospective orthodontic patients interested in Invisalign, Dr. Jenny Yoo-Park of Palo Alto Orthodontics is extremely experienced in providing orthodontic treatment with Invisalign near Stanford, CA. To better understand what makes Invisalign so popular, Dr. Yoo and the Palo Alto Orthodontics team have asked a few of our patients what they believe are the top benefits of Invisalign is!

Before diving into the benefits, it is important for you to know exactly what Invisalign is. The treatment consists of a series of clear plastic aligners which are created to gradually move your teeth into the desired place in a gentle and virtually invisible manner. Using advanced 3-D technology, Dr. Yoo is often able to predetermine your treatment plan and show you the results you will achieve at the end of treatment, before you even begin! Now, here are four benefits of getting Invisalign according to some of our amazing patients at Palo Alto Orthodontics!

  1. Virtually Invisible: Because Invisalign is made out of a thermoplastic material, it is almost invisible. One of our friends at Palo Alto Orthodontics says that this appeals to many patients because you will be the only one who knows you have anything in your mouth that is adjusting your teeth and improving your smile. There will also be no uncomfortable and unsightly traditional metal braces on your teeth!
  2. Completely Removable: Unlike traditional metal braces which are in your mouth 24/7 during orthodontic treatment, Invisalign is completely removable and can be taken out whenever you want. This means that there are no restrictions on your diet. Patients with traditional metal braces cannot eat foods which are extremely sticky or hard. Those with Invisalign, however, do not have to change their diet because Invisalign aligners need to be taken out every time they eat. It is also easier to brush your teeth and keep your mouth sparkling clean with Invisalign because you can take them out of your mouth and brush your teeth as you would normally without any orthodontic appliances. Although they are removable, that does not mean they can stay out of your mouth for long periods of time. Dr. Yoo recommends that Invisalign aligners be in the patient’s mouth for at least 22 hours a day, only being taken out for meals, brushing, and flossing.
  3. Faster Treatment Time: Patients with Invisalign usually experience a shorter orthodontic treatment time than those with traditional metal braces. However, each treatment plan depends on the individual patient and how much work they need to have done. Most patients with Invisalign have it for a year or a year and a half while patients with braces usually have them on for a year and a half or two years.
  4. Less Pain than Traditional Metal Braces: Patients with Invisalign usually experience a lot less pain than those with traditional metal braces. This is because there is no metal and no possibility of having wires or brackets break and scratch the inside of your mouth. Dr. Yoo says the most pain experienced with Invisalign is when aligners are changed every two weeks however, this is only small discomfort and typically disappears after the first 12 hours of changing sets.

Invisalign treatment can help you achieve stunning results through your very own, customized treatment plan. Dr. Jenny Yoo-Park and the team can help you to get the straight, confident smile you’ve always hoped for without the pain and hassle of traditional metal braces.
